The blog that changed my life

Hello friends, thank you for being here and sharing my journey with me. I truly hope that my blog will inspire you and show you there is hope. Please remember it's okay to not to be okay and just feel all the feels. You are doing the best you can 🌸

So, I ended my post last week with a real cliff hanger and mentioned I found a life line online. Well I did. I was frantically searching for any kind of natural remedies or "cure" for my condition when I came across Anna Rapp's blog www.tomakeamommy.com . Anna suffered with Endometriosis, Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR), MTHFR mutation, low AMH, high FSH and recurrent losses, she was told by Doctors she would not be able to get pregnant, but she did, twice! So Anna complied a list of 79 things she did to get pregnant naturally, twice! Even though we suffered from different conditions, it boiled down to the same thing, low AMH and high FSH. I was willing to try anything and I was sure if it worked for Anna, it could work for me too! So I started going through her list and I must say it was an extensive list, but it really resonated with me, so I started making changes right away. You are welcome to visit Anna's blog for her full list 😉

These are the things I did from Anna's list (plus a few extra's). I did not do exactly all 79 things, but I came pretty darn close.

So let's get right to it then.....

My diet

I CUT OUT the following: be warned, not for the faint hearted!!!!

  • Sugar: all kinds, including natural sweeteners and honey - this was sooo hard!!!

  • Diary

  • Gluten

  • Caffeine - what the actual right!!!

  • Soya

  • Alcohol

  • Tinned foods

  • Trans fats

  • Processed foods

  • and peas, believe it or not

I also ate very limited amounts of starchy vegetables such as butternut, sweet potatoes, potatoes, carrots and any other root vegetables. I also cut out white rice and replaced it with limited amounts of brown basmati rice.

I cut out all fruit with a high sugar content and ate mostly berries and Granny Smith apples (those sour, green ones).

I ate a mostly organic, when possible, whole food diet. Lots of fresh veggies, especially greens, beans and legumes, lots of healthy fats and lean organic meat.

Almost never got take out and hardly ever ate out at restaurants (this was super hard, I love eating out!!!!).

I ate homemade fertility bread daily. Recipe to follow!

I drank a daily fertility smoothie packed with greens, wheatgrass, spirulina and maca powder. Recipe to follow!

I drank a daily herbal tincture or tea if you like, made of Stinging nettle, raspberry leaves and red clover. Recipe to follow!

Supplements

I took plenty of supplements:

  • Prenatal

  • Omega 3 fish oil capsules

  • Calcium & magnesium

  • Folate

  • Vitex

  • CoQ10

  • DHEA

  • Vitamin D3

  • Vitamin C

  • Zinc

I also took Traditional Chinese medicine in combination with my Acupuncture and Homeopathic remedies.

I didn't start out taking all the supplements and herbs at once. I will explain in-depth in an upcoming post.

My lifestyle

I raided my kitchen and got rid of all the plastic. I started using mainly glass for all food storage and everything else.

We started leaving our shoes at the front door and never wore our "outside shoes" inside the house. I love this, it reminded me of my time in Vietnam, where this is the norm.

Tip: Invest in a pair of house slippers!

Threw out all household chemical cleaners and replaced it with all natural cleaning products.

Went through my extensive collection of beauty products (gulp), make up (gulp, gulp) and personal care products and started replacing them with all natural, "nasty free" products.

Mind, body and soul

I started meditation and positive visualisation exercises.

I found a Fertility life coach online with the most inspirational podcast, an absolutely amazing lady! She helped me so, so much! More on this to come!!!

Further on into my journey I also started, Yoga, Acupuncture and Body talk sessions. Much more to come on these and other practices.

This is basically everything I did, in a nutshell. I will definitely explain each section in more detail and how I managed making these very drastic changes.

I also did a ton of reading and research and found plenty of resources which confirmed that making these changes, especially diet changes, has a profound effect on your fertility!

Please join me next time when I will discuss my diet in-depth and why it is so important.
